Craftsmen garage door opener model 139.53985d powers off while going down
The door will not close it gets just passed the halfway mark and powers off. No flashing lights just shuts off completely. I have to hit the bottom of the opener to get the power back on.
I tried this will no door connected and it still does not work.
Greased everything I could, checked sensors and i tried increasing/decreasing the speeds and nothing works.
The opener is from 2006 and if anyone could help me it would be appreciated since this has very annoying!
Thank you!!

If you have to hit it to make it work, you need to be checking inside the housing for a loose or corroded connector. With the opener unplugged, check all connectors and if there is a circuit board, remove it and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser. Make sure that you re seat it firmly.

An ink eraser is better...if they still make such things. I was taught that back in my Navy days in micro/miniature circuit board repair. Something about oils or contaminates on pencil erasers? Not that I wouldn't use them if thats all I had....just saying what I remember.

Thank you I will try this method.
On a side note last night I checked the connections and all looked ok.
But I did not remove them so I will not remove them and use the eraser as noted.
Regards!
