How do you figure a roof pitch or slope. I have forgotten. Thank you, Tom

The roof pitch is simply a ratio of the height to the length of a right triangle For instance for 1' up, you go 4'out, you have a 4 to 1 pitch. When they speak of 4/12 pitches on garages it means it goes up 4' when you go out 12'.
