I live in Kitchener, Ontario. I have a detached garage which was partially finished at some point in the past. It's in pretty rough shape due to a bad roof and leaky siding/window/door. We already have a new roof and garage door on it, and putting new siding/window/door in later this week. Instead of using it as a garage we'd like to use it as a "temporary" home gym/work area. The existing "finish" was: ceiling, 1/4" plywood, vapor barrier and pink blown-in insulation. Walls, 1/4" plywood with thin white rigid foam insulation packed in (sometimes in small pieces). The garage door has pink rigid foam in it but not all of the pieces are big enough so it's pretty loose. The floor is plain concrete. We'd like to heat it with a space heater in the winter and cool with a portable A/C in the summer. When we re-did the roof we did put vents in (previously the attic was sealed with no access at all other than through rotten wood). Is this finished enough that we have to follow "finished space" rules? For example should the sub-panel for electrical be enclosed along with all the wiring either enclosed or armored? I've found websites/forums where people refer to (very different) definitions of "finished space" but I haven't actually found that definition for Ontario. Some people say the floor, some people say if the studs are enclosed, etc etc. Could I just leave some studs exposed making it unfinished space? Thanks

I have recently purchased a split level home with an attached garage however the garage is not connected to the house inside. The garage was added after the original house was build so the shared wall between the house and garage is the old exterior of the house and then another wall. The garage has an attic as well. How would one go about putting an entryway from the garage to the house? I'm attaching a picture to illustrate. The upper level of the shared wall consists of two bedrooms and a closet, the lower level is an unfinished basement.
