My sensors (one was actually off) stopped working so I purchased the same kind and figured it would be simple to wire them back up. The left side of the garage, standing on the inside looking out, wiring went perfectly but of course when I went to do the right side it was different. Instead of one wire set coming out of the wall there were two sheaths, or two lines (I hope I'm describing that correctly). So it wasn't a simple white wire, green wire hookup like on the left side. I didn't strip both sets to see what was in them but there seemed to be 4 or 5 wires in each line. Didn't think to do this at the time but I will take a picture of what I see when I get back home so that if I'm not describing this correctly you will have a better understanding. I have a building that is split into two parts, one half is heated, the other half not. I'm going to move my offices to the unheated end, they will run the full length of the back of the unheated part (70 feet). This is a pole barn construction, so no foundation but I can tell that they did put 2" foam around the edge under the slab. I will have no issue with insulating the exterior walls, that part I get. But my question is about the interior wall, being that it will be sitting on the slab, with wanting to heat the offices but not the outside. I will be putting down 2x8's over a vapor barrier and insulating. I'm wondering if that is enough. One thought I had was to cut a slot (maybe like 2" wide?) in the floor that would run under the wall and fill that slot with foam. That would basically create 2 slabs, one that would suck up whatever heat from the offices, one that could get as cold as it wants. Or, is that overkill? This building already has this scenario with the wall that separates it in half but this existing wall just sits on the slab, and I did take an infrared thermometer and measure the floor temps near the wall that now separates the 2 halves of the building. I need to get about 5 feet away before the floor temp evens out. It drops about 15 deg at the wall, this when it is about 30 deg in the unheated part and 65 or so in the heated part. Right now, the heated area next to the wall is manufacturing space, so temp isn't a big deal. I need the offices to be comfy and it's not uncommon to get down to zero in the winter.
