Garage door springs

I recently installed a garage door opener. It was working fine until colder weather. In cold weather, 20F and below, the garage would open about 6 to 10 inches from the ground and stop. After several attempts the garage door unit would stop with lifting the door at all. I have some parts to replace in the opener track but I am concerned that the extension springs may need replaced.

When I manually lift the garage door it feels that the springs are not assisting in lifting the door. I am guessing the garage door is too heavy for the garage door opener. I thought there was a point that the garage door reaches it becomes almost weightless. How do I know if the extension springs need replaced or the cables need tightened.

Try to tighten your cables if that dont work you may need new springs. the door never become weighless people who install extension springs neeed to be hit with them.
