Hi. I have an old Genie garage door opener, model SD9000. It can accept a "Genie first generation infra-red safety reverse" but the add on kit is ISR-3 which Genie no longer makes. Is there a way to adapt the Genie current generation infra-red kit to work with my old opener? -Thanks!

Not sure about adapting as some openers actually send a signal not just a simple open closed status.
Have you checked Ebay/Amazon etc? A quick search seems to indicate no option as the ISR-3 was very old first gen item. I would think if there were some way, you'd find it on the Internet pretty easily.
If you really want to increase the safety, you might be looking at a new opener, they have many more features nowadays...and it being Fathers Day, they are often on very big discounts.

No reason to call Genie. They have a corporate policy on old openers (pre-1993 I think). No repair parts, no repair advice, no options. It's aftermarket or replacement only.
