Genie screwdrive troubleshooting

When activated, the motor just gives a short burst (about a second) and stops immediately. A lot of humming and staining seem to be happening too. I disconnected the door, same thing with no load. Popped the cover off and tried to turn the screw manually - it turns. Capacitor is good, the sequencer board "looks" good. Can I get some advice please on what to check next? Unit is about 15 yo, so may be a little tired. Thanks.

If your door has the limit switches mounted on the rail, check them first. one may be shorted.

Is there an extension kit on the rail? If so, it is out of alignment and binding.
