Figuring out compatible garage door opener
My garage door opener remote is old and needs to be replaced. The markings as to the make/model have worn off.
The opener is a LiftMaster 1/3HP Security+.
From the back of it:
Part No: 41A5021-1C
Date: 5/98 (yes, probably needs replacing soon)
I also use the remote to open the community gate to get to the garage. That I have no idea of the make/model, but it uses dip switches in the current remote. I know it uses 3 position switches. I cannot change the code (controlled by management company).
I bought one "universal" remote and it could not handle the community gate (only 2 position dip switches).
My question is, what remotes would handle this setup?

your opener requires an 971LM or 973LM or an 893MAX which is backward compatible with liftmaster. We would need to know what receiver is on the gate

The 971LM has only one button so that won't work. My current remote has 2 buttons. Does the 973LM or an 893MAX have DIP switches for one of the buttons with 3 positions?
The gate is a Liftmaster elite series. There is no model number on it that I can find.

I believe that is an 82LM...That is kind of like a HYBRID remote. It is an 81LM for green button receivers and 61Lm (textured button) for dip switch and pre green button receivers bundled together. I do believe if you take the cover off completely there are two sets of dip switches. The 893max remote will not work on receivers with dip switches... the receiver has to have a yellow, purple, orange (Red) or green button.

Okay. Thanks
It looks like this will work then:

Though that remote claims to be 82lm compatible, it says it works with garage door openers with a green button. My opener has a red button.

I guess the smooth button will replace the 971, 972 & 973 series remotes also, if your receiver has red button and it is operating it. I was unaware of that. I'm assuming your gate has dip switches? your only solution is two different remotes or find an actual 82LM again. I will pull my 82LM apart an look at it again

I can find plenty of replacements for the garage door opener. The issue seems to be most of the replacements that operate 2 items only have 2 position dip switches.
I asked my neighbor and they had 2 separate remotes. I may have to go that route, but am surprised that whatever model I have they don't have an exact replacement for.

Looking up the circuit board for the garage door opener, it appears 971LM was the original one button remote controller. If I can find something compatible with that that also has 3 position DIP switches for the gate, it seems like it would work.

My apologies, I meant to say it was a 62LM not 82LM. Sorry for any inconvenience, My mind must be slipping. Here is a picture of mine... Yours may not be a 62LMAttachment 71874

All I can make out on mine is the last 4 digits of the FCC code which match what yours has. It shows 892LT or 375LM as the replacement. Mine has a red led on the remote.
Thanks for the help.

This is a nightmare. I am on my 3rd remote and still don't have one that will control both devices.
According to the circuit board on the opener, the original remote would have been a 971LM, 972LM, 973LM, 974LM, 96LM, 976LM or 977LM.
I got a 892LT. I was able to clone the old remote to open the gate with that. But not program it to open my garage door
I got a 375ut and that didn't work on either.
Looking up each of the remotes listed above for my opener, the 972lm seems to be the right one as it has 2 button, but the second button isn't textured like mine. I guess that could have changed.
The inside of my remote has "14LG423A" stamped on the circuit board.
If it were a 972lm, it says that the 892lt I bought is a replacement. I've tried to pair it several times though with no luck.

I heard back from the property manager and they said it is a Liftmaster 82LM/82LMC.
According to some sites, the two remotes I bought should work. Not sure why they don't.
