I just installed a stanley garage door opener. I have read on here that they are the worst ones. Unfortunetly it was purchased 6 months ago as a gift. Im only gonna be here another 4 years max. Should I worry about it. It goes up and down whats the problem? My other question is I have a detached garage with no other entrance besides the main garage door. What happens if something breaks or shorts out or whatever when the door is down, how the hell do i get in ?

Since I see many discussions concerning garage doors,let me ask the following: I am going to build a garage with two openings - one being 12 ft. wide by 10 ft. high, and the other being 18 ft. wide by 8 ft. high. If I'm going to use some type of standard manufactured garage door, how wide do my openings have to be to accomodate the track and any other material to assure myself that the openings described above are in fact that wide and don't end up smaller? Along the same line, what type of lumber is necessary to attach the garage door track to, is a 2x6 big enough? As you can tell, I'm new at this. Thanks for your help.
