Garage door sometimes not opening

Our LiftMaster 1300, installed in 2011, recently has a situation that it sometimes does not open --- when attempting to open the door either with remote or the power switch, the motor starts humming but the door is not moving. When that happens, we have to pull the Emergency Release Handle to loose it, then a subsequent power on (remote or switch) will make it open. Also, this is not happening all the time. Sometimes it opens normally. What's the potential cause and what can I do to fix this?

Welcome to the forums.

One potential possible problem is the balance of the door and it's too heavy.
Does the door open easily by hand with the opener disconnected ?

Not sure what "opener disconnected" means. But yes, after the Emergency Release Handle is pulled, it can be opened easily by hand. Side note: I did add some insulation sheets onto the door before, but it's been there for 2 years. I increased the upward force by turning the upward Force Adjust Controls by about 30 degree but it doesn't seem to help.

Unplug it, remove the circuit board and check the gear assembly to see if the plastic gear is stripped.
