Replace jackshaft opener

I have a 25 year old commercial jackshaft opener on a 7x18 residential door and want to replace it with another jackshaft opener. Two questions:

1. How do I determine what opener to use in light of the existing opener being a commercial opener? My door "appears" to be something beyond a lightweight door.

2. Will I need to unload the spring tension before removing the existing opener?

Replace it with a Liftmaster 8500W, it has wifi, battery backup and LED light plus remote. Commercial openers do not come with anything. With the exception of something weird (maybe you can post a picture)... no you do not need to remove spring tension. But The door does needs to be fairly easy to open and close by hand.
