Buying new garage door opener

I am now ready to buy a new 8500 series Liftmaster door opener. I have watched enough online videos to think I could complete the job blindfolded. Each video shows the 8500 being installed and included a lock mechanism and the safety sensors included, right out of the box. All the offers I have found through ebay and amazon do not picture or mention these being included. What am I doing wrong?.

I am purposely choosing the 8500 model because it does not include wi-fi applications as I do not have a smart phone and do not intend to get one. I do not need to track the operation of my door online. My door is well within the 650 lb. lift parameter of the 8500.

Suggestions on where to purchase online at a competitive price would be appreciated.

Looks like they run in the $300 range. What kind of price do you expect for this model unit. Many places to buy from, GOOGLE it. The ones I found have all accessories that show up in the videos.

The 8500 and 8500W has light, remote, lock, cable tension monitor and eye sensors... the 8500w comes with wifi and battery backup. The liftmaster 3800 has no lock, no light, no remote and a generic push button.

Did you pull the trigger ? We just had our old one replaced with the 8550W-267 Elite. Has battery back up. $460 parts and labor.

Yes, bought the 8500 and installed it back in December. Had some difficulty programming it and now I am having an issue with the overhead light emitting a noisy beep sound every few minutes, but only a limited time when this problem exists. Have not contacted the manufacturer yet.

While I really like the jackshaft concept, I could only use that type due to ceiling clearance. Back in November, Home Depot had a deeply discounted belt drive unit on a Black Friday sale. Installed it at my son's house. Wow, is that thing quiet.

Interesting..... I'm not aware of any type of audible alarm in that unit.

My son has researched the problem and I frankly do not remember what he said causes the alarm or is capable of beeping. I will ask him and get back.

PjMax: You may have caught me wrong. I have not heard back from my son but my wife says she thinks its the MyQ opener which is mounted just outside our back door and the light fixture is mounted just above the door making the source of the sound hard (for me) to determine.
If that is the source, any idea what I do to stop it?. As it is wired straight to the motor I would think its getting power from that source so a low battery, if it has one, should not be the issue. I do not have the battery back=up.
