Garage Redo Help

Originally we were going to pay a company to demo and reinstall drywall in our garage. The ceiling is cracked and missing a small chunk that is covered with plywood. The walls are wood panel and contain several holes from the previous owner.

We are now wanting to sell our home and don't really want to put that much money into redoing a structurally sound, but ugly garage. Is there a diy solution we can do to make the garage look more appealing? It doesn't have to be perfect as it is just a garage, but definitely want to fix some of the imperfections to appeal to home buyers. Do we just need to for bite paythe bullet and pay for the new drywall?

I'd repair the ceiling. Remove the sheet of plywood and replace with drywall as needed.
Ideally you'd either rip of the paneling and replace with drywall or install new paneling over the old. A piece of thin plywood or maybe paneling over the holes might look better than it does now. You could cut out the damaged paneling and replace just those areas and then paint the paneling so it all looks similar.
