Door safety question, only one safety light is on (green one) red side I can not get to light? Do the red light senors fail? Where do you get replacement?
Can it be temporarily over ridden ?

The door sensors need to be replaced as a pair. There is no way to bypass the sensors but if you need to close your garage door..... it can be done by holding in the wall pushbutton.
Most of the home improvement stores carry replacement sensors depending on the make of your unit.

Check both the connections on the back of the opener unit as well as visually inspect the wire leading to the non-functioning sensor. Sometimes the wires get pinched and you loose continuity. Other times an errant foot could pull the wires out of the back of that unit. Lastly, monkey around with alignment, again, the sensor may have been bumped and is no longer properly set.

Thanks for the replies.
WOW almost $50.00 for the sensors!! What a rip off the whole door opener was only $150.
Plus I have to drive 100 miles round trip to get them.
Surely there is a way to bypass them until I can get to the city to pick them up.
Any place I can get a pair for less $$$$?

You never told us the make of your opener but you can get them online. They start around $30.
The garage door control boards are specifically designed so that the sensors cannot be bypassed.
This is done strictly for safety.
