Raising exterior door off slab

Raising exterior door off slab
My week off project is building a 10 x 15 shed/pool house/tiki/party hut where we once had our swim spa.
As I was admiring the days work, thinking about next steps, I was contemplating the exterior door installation.
Where the door is going I had installed a second small slab to accommodate the steps so the entire area is flat and level inside and out.
Was thinking of mortaring down a piece of 1/2" thick cement board to give some elevation to the door to keep water away from the bottom of the door.
I know they get caulked but as I look at my garage door it was installed a couple inches above grade.
Anybody know of a better option?
