I'd pull up the assembly instructions online for that shed, see if it shows the panels. I have one similar, the panels are either 2' or 4', so if it was regularly 8', it would go down to 6 or 4'. If this one is in 2'pieces, you could possibly leave out one set of panels, that would shrink it by 2'...Hopefully this makes sense, thinking out loud here.
You could make it about 5' 9" deep, if you're good with metal work.
Panels are 28" wide with about a 2" overlap.
Since I don't know how good you are with metal work, I can only say, like most things, if you have to ask, the answer is probably no.
A wood shed will cost more but be a lot nicer. It isn't prone to get as hot in the summer, you'd have a better door and more headroom. Personally I'd only go with a metal prefab shed if it was free.
Depending on the size and style you can keep the cost down. If it's just for storage, you cheat a little by using 24 inch centers on both the wall and the rafters. T-111 siding is relatively cheap.
Right now T1-11 is going for $25 to $40 for 4 x 8 sheet. So a 8 x 10 shed is going use about 9 sheets depending. 3 sheets of flakeboard for the roof (about $15 a sheet) and about 40 2 x 4 x 8 ($4 ea.) for framing. Roofing (about 3 bundles at ~ $35 covering about 33 sq ft per bundle). About $45 a sheet for three 4 x 8 x 3/4 treated plywood for the floor. Throw in about $25 for nails and hardware. Maybe another $50 for sleepers to set it on.
So in rough terms an 8 x 10 will about $800 to $1000 to build. Any steel or wood shed that measures about 6 x 8 will cost starting at about $800. I used Lowes for rough cost estimates.
i have an intermittent problem. sometimes th door works just fine. sometimes it won’t open. when this happens, it makes no noise. there’s no whirring or clicking. nothing. sometimes it won’t open at all and sometimes it opens halfway and stops. when it opens halfway and stops, if i hit the button again it will close, and then will not open at all. so i have to open it manually, which seems to work fine, and the next time i try to use it, it might very well just work fine. i initially assumed it was a short since there’s just silence when it’s not working, but more recently i realized it will close when it only opens halfway, and then it won’t do anything. seems like maybe not a short?
thoughts?
Hello:
There is a large shed purchased from Home Depot about 11-13 years ago. The shed is a very beautiful and wonderful in and out, however I started to concern 'floor of the shed' which is not plywood, .... it's 'chipboard.'
We, the family never put any moisture on the floor, but over the time, there are few spots getting discoloration.
Should I replace it entirely, like good plywood or cover the plywood over the chipboard for the floor of the shed?
Any imputs would be truly appreciated.
Thanks,
