Genie GX9000 garage door opener hums/won't run

This unit uses the Part #27504R sequencer board, which is no longer available. It controls the motor. I traced the trouble on the board to the middle relay that controls UP drive. The Song Chuan 833H-1C-C-24VDC (SPDT) is a direct replacement for this blue UP drive relay and is used on the newer model boards. It is available from mouser.com for $1.50 each + $8 shipping. I replaced all of the relays (UP, DOWN & LAMP) when doing that one, because they were all functionally identical and the same age. The other two had different base terminal arrangements, so I had to run short wires to connect the relay pins to the correct terminals on the board. Working OK now. (Must have soldering skills and some electronics background to make this repair.)

I'm guessing here... usually if it won't run and just hums, the start capisator or start windings in the motor are faulty.

On the trouble with the Genie GX9000 screw drive unit described above, the motor capacitor was replaced 3 years ago and tested OK now. Unplugging power and all connectors from the sequencer board, jumper wire was connected for up drive between white 120 V incoming power lead and yellow motor lead and then replaced with jumper from white power lead to orange down drive motor lead. Both caused motor to work OK. This bypassed the sequencer board and identified board as the problem. (First placed jumper in one position, then the other, each time followed by plugging into 120 V outlet momentarily. Don't do this unless you have electrical repair background.) Options are limited with this door opener, because many of its parts are no longer available.
