Safety sensor / Automatic Force Setup
Hey guys, I'm looking for some expertise on a garage door opener I just installed (brand new Craftsman CMXEOCG772). Thanks in advance for reading/helping.
The door goes up and down smoothly when I program the travel or move it manually. It will not go into the Automatic Force Set Up immediately following that like it is supposed to. Is there a way to force that Automatic Force Set Up to happen?
Right now it blinks twice when I push the opener button and the lights on the safety sensors are off.
the lights on the safety sensors are off and the main door opener lights blink twice when I push the button (hard-wired or remote). I know two blinks are supposed to indicate a short in the safety sensor wiring, but I do not think that's actually the case.
I followed the instructions and got the right blinks and beeps for the travel programming. (Page 29 of the owner's manual: http://pdf.lowes.com/productdocument...5/42248333.pdf )
The safety sensor lights were on solid (one green and one amber) for a few days and would blink when something got in the way. The automatic force setup started as it was supposed to two days ago, but it failed the test -- the door had a sticking point toward the bottom and would jerk up hard when it would finally break loose. The motor would stop and lots of beeps and blinks. So yesterday, I replaced everything -- springs, pulleys, cables, and rollers, and the bottom brackets. I also lubricated the tracks. Manually and during the travel programming, it now rolls up and down very smoothly.
Again, all day yesterday, the safety sensor lights were on solid and blinked when my ladder or some tools were in the way -- clearly working.
When I finished all the adjustments, I reprogrammed the travel. At that time, the safety sensors turned off as they should. I got the right blinks and beeps after reprogramming travel and it should have gone right into automatic power adjustment. It did not and now it just sits there. I reprogrammed the travel about 5 times, making sure to go step by step and count the blinks and beeps.
The current state of the opener is that the power works but the safety sensor lights are off. It just blinks twice when I push the opener button.
For what it's worth, I have two 1-car doors and I put the identical opener in the other bay and it's working fine. (I replaced two 1988 openers and needed to do a lot of work on the door parts on both doors -- replaced rollers, springs... basically all the moving parts.)
Thanks for the help!

Nevermind. I figured it out.
Ok... I figured it out and feel a little stupid. I got it working. Here's what I did in case anyone else is ever having a similar problem.
As I said, "I know two blinks are supposed to indicate a short in the safety sensor wiring, but I do not think that's actually the case." As soon as I typed that, I thought for sure it was going to turn out to be a short. So I looked closely at the wires where they were pushed into the spring load connection points. I think a few strands had come untwisted when pushing them in and the White and the Dashed/Grey sides were barely touching -- so likely a short.
It still didn't work completely, but it allowed it to get into the automatic force setup mode. Then it would stick in the up position. At that point, the UP, DOWN, and SETTINGS buttons on the opener would keep blinking intermittently like it was trying to tell me something. I tried to override it with the wall button but no luck. I went to look at the sensors and I think they were just barely out of alignment. They'd show solid lights for long periods of time and then the green (receiving) would have a quick blink. So I angled the sending sensor just slightly (put a shim behind it and reattached the bracket) and tried it all again. Success.
