New garage keypad won't accept code

HI The old one stoppsed working over 10 years old, this new one is a universal! No matter what i do the motor light will not flash when setting the new code. All the remotes work great and the sensors are lined up. but I think they must some connection in the motor stopping it from accepting any code. but what it did was the motor light dimmed just a very slight bit when I put the new code in but would not flash. Anyone any idea's? Thanks btw, the garage door motor is not that old and seems to be working otherwise!!!

So you are up on a ladder pushing the learn button on your garage door opener when you do this, and it's not accepting it? What is your garage door opener brand and model #?

So as it mentions on page 35, did you erase all codes?

I thought of that but was afraid to try it because my remotes work great. I just cannot program the key pad.
If I erase all codes and the keypad will still not program will I be able to some how still be able to program the remotes without the keypad working? Please Let me know what you think on this? I really need the remotes to work so I can get in and out of the garage!!!!

I don't know it says its universal for sears remotes? In trying to get the new remote to work something told me to go back to the old remote and i programed it and it worked immediately? Could it be just worn or dirty numbers on the pad? Thanks PS, I dont trust leaving the house if its not 100% dependable!!

Like any electronic device they can stop working for a number of reasons. I think an OEM part would probably be my primary choice vs a generic part!

I am starting to think it may be the antenna wire, i know they are 16awg. is there anything around the house i could use to extend the wire? Just to eliminate that as a possible answer?

Ok here is the latest, When I bring the Keypad into the garage or anywhere in the cellar or upstairs it works perfectly but as soon as I hang it Outside, it may work once then no more. How can it work so good inside but not outside any more? Any Idea's would be appreciated!!!
PS BTW As mentioned the remotes all work great and the Sensors too. if there is any object between sensors it will auto go back up as it should.

Just google the model number, service parts, for the most part, are still available!

The Old one work great but only inside the garage or house. as soon as i put it out side, it may work once and thats it. I have the old one back in the house and it works, btw the New on will not program I have to send it back, I have a green learn switch and the new one seems to only work with purple, red but not green.
why would the old one only work inside the house now. doesn't make sense. anyone ever have this problem?

Yes, I have replaced a couple of outdoor remotes for similar issues, they just stopped working and like you the ones in the car are fine, I suspect just being outside exposed to elements has taken their toll! Mine were Chamberlin units, replacement key pads worked from day one!

My new keypad may not work because it is not for a GREEN LEARNER BUTTON. this one is for purple, yellow and red. It kills me to see the old one work indoors and I cannot use it, but guess I have to move on to the Correct replacement keypad.
