10' garage door needs opener
#1

Hi - I have a pole barn with two 10' high double garage doors. I'd like to install garage door openers but I'll been struggling to find ones that support that height.
I've seen alot of Stanley openers on Ebay but have been unable to determine if a can buy an extension rail for these openers.
Please let me know if extending a Stanley chain drive is possible. If not, what opener(s) would you recommend.
Any additional info you have about installing an opener on an oversize door would also be appreciated.
Thanks

I heard just recently ( and this is unconfirmed) that Stanley is no longer making openers, so I think you might want to check that out first.
You probably can get track extension pcs for different residential door openers, or just bite the bullet and buy a light commercial opener....they aren't that much higher. I bought a Moore-O-Matic and a 10x12 door from a locat garage door specialist store for my shop door. The opener has a good, heavy track and trolley system, much better than residential doors. Been up 5-6 years now and never a hint of a problem.

You can go to your local Home Improvement Center or Lumber yard, and get a 1/2hp opener. Then you buy the extension kit separtely. It is not much. Yes, do not buy a Stanley or Chamberlain. Also a word to the wise. Do not buy one on e-bay.
No guarantee, what if parts are missing, what if parts are broke ?
This is one area not to go cheap on.
