Installing A Garage Door

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A WAYNE-DALTON GARAGE DOOR. THE SIZE OF THE DOOR IS 9X7. I AM NEEDING TO KNOW HOW BIG TO MAKE MY OPENING FRAMED WITH 2X6'S. ANY INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME ON THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

and I like to have a 2x6 turned flat on the inside running vertically to give a nice place to mount the track to.

Cool

I am in the process of choosing garage doors (I too plan to install). I was on the phone today with "WAYNE-DALTON GARAGE DOOR" customer service for almost the same question you pose. My rough opening is 8ft10.5inches (wide) and 6ft10.5inches (high). I was told by this representative that I only need to purchase a standard 9ft (wide) and 7ft (high) garage door. Apparently the 1.5inch deficit is compensated by the vertical (2) and horizontal (1) trim strips also serving as means to seal the door. I am not certain this info will be of assistance to you but my info just the same. well wishes.
