Can I add an opener to an old slab door?

I am purchasing a house with a detached, 2 car garage that has 2 old, heavy wooden, slab style doors.
Can I add a garage door opener to these doors?
If so, can one opener operate both, or do I need two openers?
Thanks!

Are the doors roll-up or swing up? Generally door openers should work as long as there is clearance to mount everything, the doors are not falling apart, and there is sufficient counterweight/counterbalance. If you can lift the door manually fairly easily, no problem; if it takes both hands and the risk of a hernia, the opener could have trouble lifting them.

I don't know of any openers right off the top of my head that could do 2 doors together and I don't think I would suggest it anyway. I would get 2 openers or only put an opener on one side.

Good luck.

they're swing up. The doors are a little hard to oopen, but they have counterweights, and if I add more weights I think they'll be ok.
