garage door opener vs gate opener

Did you get an answer to this? I too would like to use a garage door opener for a slider gate. It's about $700 cheaper!

There are a few gate operators out there for sale. GTO, Stanley, etc. Do a web search on "slider gate operator" and you'll come up with a bunch of retail sites.....hoverfence.com, amazinggates.com, etc.

You'll notice that they run about $850 for a light use residential -- plus you then have to add the keyless entry, infrared, etc....much more expensive than a garage door opener. Supposedly the only difference is weather durability. Not sure if that's true or not.
