Craftsman - Wireless Keypad Problems

I went out and bought a new Craftsman wireless keypad for my existing 1993 Craftsman 1/3 HP opener.

I've tried both of the following and can't seem to get the keypad programmed:

Method 1:
1. Press and release green button on opener (get steady green light)
2. Enter code on keypad and hit enter.
Opener light is supposed to flash but never does. After 30 sec or so the green light on opener goes out, but can't open door with keypad by entering code and hitting enter.

Method 2:
1. Enter code on keypad and hold enter key.
2. Press and release green button on opener.
3. After light flashes (which it never does), I'm supposed to release enter.

Any other recommendations for steps to try and program this keypad? It has brand new batteries in it.

Thanks!

id say you have got a "security +" type of keyless entry and its not programing. check to see if this is the case. if it is, youll have to return the unit for the non-rolling code type unit. if you have the non-rolling code unit, id say its faulty.

good luck
