Question Oak Tree Problem

Our oak tree has these acorn looking things growing on it. It kinda looks like it is trying to form a shell but has nothing inside and bees seem to like this tree. I was wondering if the bees are forming these? Does the tree have a diease or is this normal?

I think we have a cluster Oak tree if that helps.

Hello Susan,

Oak trees do form acorns, and depending on where you live and how bad the drought has been, the acorns may be ill-formed.
Drought years produce a terrible crop of acorns for the deer and wild turkey population. Acorns are their main source of food besides my garden. The bees are harmless to your tree.
