Question Two 1st time gardening questions

I'm a transplanted NY City boy and 1st time back yard gardener with a 10 X 15 lot in beautiful (cough, cough) Bergen County New Jersey.

My search of this website has told me how to prepare the soil but I need advice as to; a) how far apart I should space my plants (bell peppers, tomatoes, and cucumber) and b) when do I plant them?

Thanks for your help!

Pepper plants about 18in apart.
Tomato plants - a bit more room - about 30 in minimum.
Cukes - I plant seeds in a row 6 to 5 in apart.

All these can be safely planted in the garden after your last frost date (prob around Memorial Day for you). You can plant outside earlier, but they would need to be covered if a frost is expected.
