Question Harvesting....

While harvesting vegetables like stringbeans and peas where to I cut the veggie from the plant? Do I cut behind the fruit itself on the stem ? or do I cut in front of the stem on the fruit itself? I'm asking so I don't stop the plants from continuing to grow new veggies. Thanks.....

Smile Produce harvest

Hi marshwalker Welcome to the DIY Garden Forums

We have found that our market produce, stays fresher when a small part of the stem remains with the fruit or vegetable. Drying up and sealing the moisture in, so the produce won't dehydrate as soon.

Removing bad produce & keeping the plant & surrounding area clean, will do more for a continued harvest than how you pick.

Be careful with beans as the plant is brittle, so much in fact you can pull to pick a bean, & pull the whole branch off.
