Unhappy River Birch Dying?

Hello I have two river birches on my lawn, one in front one in back. The front one is doing fine but the one in back has only blossomed about 1/5 of the leaves it seems to be dying. Is there any kind of food or fertilizer I could give it to heal it. Thank you.

How old are these trees and how long have they been in the ground where they are? Any construction/earth moving work around them? Any string trimmer damage from lawn work? Any obvious damage to the bark as you might expect from a borer? Did it have water over the winter?

River birch is generally easy to grow and manage. It tolerates wet, acid, or salty soils. Even in dry soil, it will flourish. Sometimes, trees of the same species will perform differently in the same yard, if soil conditions and sunlight availability are different. I have some trees that are that way here.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
