a new garden...

...I'm starting from scratch...and buying specimens on sale, heading into the fall..can I divide Shasta Daisy from the nursery in a pot as I transplant?...got a couple of big Clematis in really bad shape, most leaves are gone half way up the vine...after planting, should I hard prune to a few inches high for a full plant or will it fill in next year?

thanks

John

Shasta Daisy can be divided when being moved.

Here is a good site on clematis.

http://www.homeofclematis.net/

You will need to determine which clematis you have to have the ideal pruning schedule.

Hope this helps.
