Question Landscape software

I don't know if this is the correct forum for this, but any suggestions on EASY to use Landscape software or Java sites? I need to do some serious landsacping and don't want to spend a lot of money but want a plan design I can work from. Thoughts? Thanks

I have looked at some of the free stuff out there, and found it wanting. I guess that would be the case. Anyhow, I wanted a properly developed landscape plan that would meet my needs of changing the nature of the barren, flat lot where my house is located. I also wanted plants that were drought tolerant, not bothered by pests, did not require a lot of maintenance, and performed as well as indigenous plants here in upstate South Carolina. Considering how much time this would take for me to learn about all the plants necessary, to learn to be creative about plant placement and bed design, and to develop a design with planting plan, I decided to hire a landscape architect. What the agreement we made was that he would develop a plan, with specifications for precise names of plants, to meet my needs in plant performance, would design the beds and plantings to achieve the goals we had set on appearance, and deliver the plan to me, drawn to scale with legend and nomenclature fee simple. In other words, when he was finished and paid, the plans were mine without any strings attached about my buying anything from him or his company. What I got was:

for the one acre yard. I paid $300 for all this. I think that I had an excellent arrangement. Now I have a complete plan to implement for my landscaping. I can pursue it on my own. After all, I can plant and tend to plants. I just am not creative.

We have made a fair amount of progress on what we call the 5 year plan.

That is what I did. I am well pleased.

Hope this helps.
