Tiger Lillies - should I pinch?
#1

Hello! My thumbs are not the least bit green, but this spring I decided I would try again to get SOMETHING to grow. I bought some potted tiger lillies that already had a few blooms, followed the transplanting directions to a T, and was rewarded with very beautiful blooms for about 3 days.
Then the blooms all died and now I just have stems with a strange looking tip left that I assume is where the blooms come from.
Please don't laugh at me. lol.
Should I pinch these odd looking tips off so that new blooms can form? I have searched the net, but can't find anything except that tiger lillies bloom in July.
Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

Tiger Lillies
Hi hornytoad
You can cut them or not, the best way to get more is by deviding the bulblets growing from the main bulb. Tigers bloom once a year so now they will grow the bulb for next years show.
It is not unuasual for a forced flower to bloom twice, when planted in it's normal flowering time. If you had planted in fall it would have died back & gotten ready for Spring. Hold back on the nitrogen that will stunt the flowers & give the plant more folage.
You should be able to devide next fall & expand your lilly garden.
