Trimming Hedge

I have a cedar hedge around 3 sides of my property. Can I trim it anytime of year? Are there tricks to it.I don,t want it to end up like a bad haircut but don,t think I could afford to pay someone to do it for me.

Most hedges are pretty resilient. Prune with a taper from top to bottom in mind. This tends to keep the plant from becoming leafless on the bottom from a lack of sunlight on the lower leaves. I find it helpful to stretch a string along the top line that you want to follow to avoid uneveness.

Hope this helps.
