Blackberry Bush Transplant

Greetings All

I have a Blackberry Bush that has grow out of control (8-10 feet in diameter). I need to trim it back and move it to another part of the yard. We just moved into the property. I would imagine this bush has grown out of control for years.

Being in SE Michigan, I was thinking the best time to move the bush would be when it's dormant (November - December)?

Are there any precautions I need to take before pruning?

How should I prepare the new resting place? Size of hole, sunlight, shade, etc...

It currently does not have a fence to grow on...should I set up sometype of support to tie it to?

Thanks!!!!!

Here is an informative link on blackberries.

http://www.weeksberry.com/BLACKBER.HTML

They don't have trellises in nature, but I would think they would be easier to manage with one.

Hope this helps.
