Banana Plant

I have about 4-5 foot Banana Plant that was planted about 4 months ago and it is doing just fine.

Recently I've noticed that there is another banana plant starting to grow right next to it.

Is there a way that I can take that new plant and move it to another part of my back yard.

Do I need to start it off in a pot or can I just put it in the ground where I want it to got?

Thanks;

Steve

You can divide them and plant the one you want where you want it.

Hope this helps.

The new banana plant growing from the main plant is the grandaughter(new plant) of the daughter(main plant). The daughter only produces one time and then dies back allowing the grandaughter to continue to grow and produce. This is the way banana trees propagate and continue to grow.You can seperate each new plant that produces and move it to a different area.If the crom is large enough you can also cut it in half and have 2 plants from the single one.Here is a site that explains this much better than I can. Its helped me with my banana tree that I brought back to Arkansas from Florida. Hope this helps explain banana plants .

Thank you very much I will look over it.
By coincidence, I am living in Florida.

Thanks;
