Question

this is my second year growing collard greens and I was surprised to see my collards starting to bloom flowers. is this normal? and will this affect my crop? will my collards continue to grow or will it become weeds because the leaves around the now growing flowers don't look the way collard greens are suppose to look?

I REMEMBER READING AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS. I THINK THEY REFER TO THIS AS BOLTING. FROM WHAT I REMEMBER IT OCCURRS WHEN THE PLANTS ARE EXPOSED TO VERY COOL TEMPERTURES THEN BACK TO HOT.
