squirrels eating my tulips
#1
Just as my tulips are beginning to bloom the neighborhood squirrels are chewing the stalks of the flowers and toppling them to the ground. Is there anything that I can put down to discourage them from comming near my flowers? A friend suggested putting moth balls around the flowers but then I'll have that horrible smell to deal with.

Moth balls, capsasin P, Blood meal, animal urine, cayenne pepper and various store bought repellents such as NIMBY (Short for Not In My BackYard) will repell squirels. If this is an annual problem, you can also plant tulips in chickenwire 'cages' to prevent rodents from digging up the tulips and eating the bulb.
