I have to uproot a shrub and re-plant. I was also hoping to split it at the same time. Is there special soil I should buy or anything that will help it survive this process?

Mix organic compost (manure/bark/leaf mold etc) into the exisiting soil along with some phosphorous to aid root development. Dig the new hole 2x as wide as needed and mix the organic soil on a 1/1 ratio with the existing soil and use the mixed soil to replant with.
