Black patches on new lawn

We had a new lawn laid just over a week ago, (Zoyzia Emerald turf) several small patches have turned black. We live in Alabama where the weather has been crazy this year. Thunderstorms almost every day, very hot temperatures, which of course is usual at this time of the year, but we are also having a lot of mist and fog (wonderful mushroom growing weather). Our landscape contractor told us to keep the new turf well watered but it has been quite difficult regulating the water with this temperamental weather. We think the black areas may be water mold but we are not sure how to treat it for the best and stop it spreading. Can you help please?

Any supplemental water should be applied early in the day so the grass can dry. Avoid watering late in the day or evening. A fungicide will be needed to control what sounds to be brown patch. Brown patch is irregular patches of dead and dying grass.

I would have the landscape contractor out for a look and confirmation.

Hope this helps.
