planting mums

I just bought a pot of mums for the first time. They look so pretty sitting on my table, but are starting to turn a little brown. Do they have to be planted outdoors, or can I keep them inside?

You can enjoy them inside, just keep them watered, and when they die off, cut them back and plant them in the ground. They should rebloom next year - the rule of thumb is to pinch back any buds that develop before the end of July to promote fall flowering.
