Too late to plant plum tree?

I found out after buying a plum tree that it needs another to cross pollinate and fruit. Is it too late to plant one? I want it to get established before next spring so we will get fruit.

I'm in Northern California, SF Bay Area.

Plant to your heart's content.

The ground doesn't freeze, so the roots will continue to grow, making your tree stronger for next spring.

Did the hole twice as wide and deep, back fill some. plant and keep watered.

Do not plant any deeper then it is in pot and donot mulch right up to the trunk.

Happy planting.
