Strawberry Plant

I got a bunch of strawberry plants from my dad and i was wondering what the best area would be to plant them. Lots of sun? Lots of water?

Full sun and a good amount of water. I grew them in a raised bed and they did well, they will spread so give them some room to grow, maybe a foot or so apart. I used a liquid fertilizer with a good compost mixed into the soil.

You will want to plant strawberries as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring. Do not plant while ground is too wet, wait until it dries out some. Plant on cloudy day or in late afternoon. Place plants in soil so soil just covers tops of roots. Strawberries need an inch of water a week, well-drained soil that is high in organic material. The type of strawberry you have will determine the best planting system. For additional info go to http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/strawberries/growing.html
