I palnted a pumpkin seed(s) about a month ago. Nothing has popped throught the soil yet. The area I planted is covered with westernn bark nuggets. I was hoping this would keep the moisture in thwe soil. By the way I live in Sothern Cali, so there is no prblem with temps too low. What have I done wrong?

Pumpkin seeds germinate quickly. If you covered the seed with mulch, that may have done it in. Plant another seed and don't mulch it.

How much soil should I cover the seed with?

Plant the seeds about an inch deep and keep moist....but not wet....until the seed germinates. Don't cover seeds with mulch.

honesuckles not as big as expected

I planted honeysuckles last year, and they were gorgeous by August. I cut them back in the winter because of the brown vines. Was that a poor choice? This year, they are not growing as fast as last year! Thanks!

I planted lettuce too close together, now they're really crowded. Can I transplant them to allow more room to grow? Thanks.
