Newbie to roses

I had planted some Don Juan Climbers last spring. I've noticed something over the winter has chewed on them, as their is some of the top layer bark ismissing & no bud nodes or anything visable. I do have each plant surrounded by some 2ft high chicken wire. So I don't know if it's rabbits or what because the rabbits left them alone once I put the chicken wire up.

Either way will these roses have any trouble comming back this spring????

Hi Shelby,

When rabbits chew on plants they leave a diagnal cut. Deer rip at the stems and leave jagged ends. You will probably need to clean up the tips. Here's how to prune climbing roses.
