Sick Lilac

I planted a Sensational Lilac this spring and it has taken a turn for the worst. The leaves begin to curl up, then brown spots form and finally the leaves turn pale and wilt. Can anyone tell what is wrong and how to cure this problem? Thank you for your help

If lilac was overwatered or has been a victim of too much rain, it is possible that it has acquired a disease. Lilacs can suffer from powdery mildew, blight, sooty mold, or other condition. Brown spots on lilac are often a symptom of bacterial blight. The following link will perhaps help you better diagnose the problem and provide info for treatment: http://plantclinic.cornell.edu/treeshrub/lilac.htm
