Smile Weeds in a Playground

I own a campground and we put a playground in this summer with sand under it. Crab grass has grown all around it. Is there a safe way to kill this crab grass?

Post emergent herbicide can be used on crabgrass. Pre-emergent can be applied in the spring before it emerges.

With kids around, I don't like a lot of chemicals. In this situation, I use vinegar to kill weeds. Not as strong as the chemicals, so multiple applications can be required, but no human health risk.

Corn gluten meal can be used as a pre-emergent in the spring.

I also like the vinegar for weed control.
