late fall tree planting
i just got a free locust tree and haven't planted it yet.
is it too late to plant it ?
if it is too late how should i prepare it to over winter above ground?
i live in northern colorado on the front range @ 5,300 ft.

Fall planting
You might look at http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/greenline/i1331_384.html
Your tree looks like it will do well in your climate, would not grow in mine.

Kizemo, be sure to place your locust far enough away from structures, sidewalks and driveways as the large surface roots that will form will lift sidewalks, etc. The surface roots will grow beyond the dripline.
If you need sites on how to plant, mulch and water just let me know.
