I know it gets hot here. Anyone tried to plant a Lilac bush in Texas? What was the result? I would appreciate any advice.
I just love the scent of Lilacs in spring, so alternative suggestions are not being sought at this time.
Thanks guys

You might want to check out Texas Lilac Vitex, also known as Mexican lavender. Your local Cooperative Extension Service Agent and gardening centers can point you in the right direction for lilac varieties for your gardening zone.

Texas has hardiness zones 6 through 9.

If you are in zones 6 or 7 you can grow just about any of the 'French hybrids' aka common lilac.

If you are in a warmer zone such as 8 or 9 you can grow these.

If you don't know your hardiness zone you can look it up here.
