Removing Chinese Lanterns

I planted Chinese lanterns a few years ago and they have taken over the entire garden. I have tried to remove them by pulling them, but I can't get all of the roots and they keep coming back. Will Roundup work to get rid of them? If not what else can I try?

Thanks,

Sherm

Once invasive Chinese lantern has taken hold, it takes persistence and patience to eliminate. You may find woody-stem herbicide or brush killer more effective than Roundup. Reapplications tend to be necessary. Keeping all new sprouts sprayed or cut to prevent plant development is helpful.

Chinese Lanterns

Once I get them eliminated; how long until I can re-plant.

Check the label on the herbicide for the time period before planting.
