Rose of Sharon Question
Two years ago, my husband and I purchased a Rose of Sharon tree at a garden center in the late summer. We planted it in a mulched burm. The following summer, it seemed to be very happy...it really leafed out and started budding toward the end of summer. While the buds looked just on the verge of blooming, it never did. I didn't think too much of it because it was this plant's first summer in our graden. However, this summer, a section of the tree never grew leaves and looked dead. The rest of the tree did leaf out in mid-summer, but again, it budded out but never bloomed. We live in Northeast Wisconsin (about 40 miles from Green Bay). Any thoughts? Is it too cold here for this plant? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi Robin,
Rose of Sharon is hardy to zone 5b.

I suspect you are in zone 4 and that could be the problem. Here's a zone map.
