Bradford Pear Suckers

Hurricane Ike took most of our Bradford Pear trees. Suckers are growing from the remaining roots in the ground. Will these grow into hardy trees?

Hi Lyndsae,

Sorry about your trees, but the answer is no. Best to plant a better tree. Most arborists call Bradford pear trees their 'mortgage payment' or 'junk trees'. I'd say to go with something with a better structure and an open canopy to be better able to deal with the high wind.
